Medical Drawings

Below are some of my medical drawings that I am able to share. I'm not able to share the numerous patent application drawings I have done or those medical illustrations currently under journal review. I'd like to thank the researchers that have allowed me the opportunity to contribute to their cutting edge research by giving me the opportunity to do medical illustrations for their projects.

Medical Illustration  #1

This was such and amazing project and my first ever publication! This drawing was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Global Research and Reviews. I collaborated with a medical student and an attending/physician researcher. We used a variation of this drawing as a background to graphically present data on different types of injuries. We used Google Drive and one Zoom meeting to collaborate. Thank you for the opportunity!

This was an incredible project as well! It's always so inspiring working with the medical professionals I get the opportunity to work with. This one is also near and dear to my heart because this was my first authorship for my contributions to a paper. I got to see my name in print for contributing to the article, The supinator approach to the lateral elbow: a technique and literature review in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery which is about a surgical approach and intervention. I'm so honored that surgeons will be looking at my illustration so they can visually picture a surgical approach they might do.

In this collaboration, I got the opportunity to graphically depict a number of injuries. This collaboration was exciting because my digital drawings would be helping surgeons and future surgeons picture injuries and the surgical interventions needed to address them. I was honored to be able to play apart in the article through my illustrations. Again, due to these drawings being part of an article that is being reviewed for publication, I am sharing an early draft of my sketch with some details removed.  Again, I want to thank the researchers for giving me this amazing opportunity to collaborate with them on their project for publication.

Medical Illustration #4

This is a hand drawn illustration I did of a cadaver foot when I attended the Stanford Medicine and the Muse program. This is an amazing interdisciplinary program that combined my two passions medicine and art.

Medical Illustration #5

This was another great collaboration. I got the opportunity to graphically depict a phenomenon that has never been digitally drawn before (at least that I could find). I was sent an initial rough sketch concept and then I did research by looking up an actual surgical video of a surgeon doing an operation and freeze framed on an image in this video to guide me in my digital drawing, combining my fascination with medicine and digital drawing. We used Google Drive to collaborate. Again, I want to thank the researchers for giving me this amazing opportunity to collaborate with them on their project for publication.

This is a hand drawn illustration I did using watercolors of the anatomy of a leg when I attended the Stanford Medicine and the Muse program. This is an amazing interdisciplinary program that combined my two passions medicine and art.
